Currently, in the facilities of the company PROIND S.A.S. (a company dedicated to offer solutions in architecture and structural design projects, furniture for exhibition, storage or interior design, etc.) is installed an electrostatic painting booth and a curing oven for the final treatment that is performed for this type of process. This equipment is indispensable both for the final finishing of the structures used in the company's different projects and for the painting service provided to third parties when requested by them. The current procedure is as follows: as a first step the powder paint is applied inside a cabin that together with a cyclone for the reception of particulate material (in this case the powder residue of the paint) controls the segregation of the particulate material into the atmosphere that was generated by the application of the paint, after this, the structure or painted pieces as described in the first step are placed either on a fixed support or on hanging supports to proceed to introduce them into the oven for curing through a heating process with gas burners, but it is here where it will enter to optimize the entire painting process since the industrial control applied to the equipment is practically null, its operation is empirical and is limited to an on and off by simply flipping an ON/OFF switch. As main objective within the first stage of automation of the general process, it is intended to design an automation system for the curing oven where the operating conditions of the same are improved, implementing a programmable logic controller (PLC) and a human-machine interface (HMI), where through the latter can visualize and control the variables of the process included in the first stage of the project.

Automatización de invernaderos aplicando la técnica hardware in the loop (HIL)
Álvarez Flórez, José Ricardo; Avilés Sánchez, Oscar Fernando
In this work, an overview of how emerging technologies can be linked with the purpose of recreating the behavior of a greenhouse is obtained and from this, establish the control model that best fits the required behavior. The problem that was identified is a situation that has been affecting the peasants of the Cundi-Boyacense highlands year after year: in the early morning hours the temperature drops and this means that the crops are lost. Using the "Hardware in the loop" (HIL) technique, the control algorithm is validated, which is executed in a simulated programmable logic controller (PLC), thus helping to test the behavior without physical prototypes. The advance of the new technologies that has been implemented both in the academic and professional environment are of great help since they allow us to idealize a required context and in this way validate the program routine to be established in the programmable logic controller (PLC); which must interact with the mathematical model that describes the system and in this way make possible a validation of its implementation in the operator panel or human machine interface (HMI). The linking of these new technologies is in tune with this need, since it is very common that when faced with the characterization of a context such as that of a greenhouse; there are difficulties in making a direct validation in the field. This is a problem that exists both academically and professionally. Through the implementation of different software and different Industrial communication protocols, the tools that the university currently has were linked: such as the programmable logic controller, the operator panels: allowing to establish the communication and idealization of the greenhouse as if it were in the field and thus validate the response that it describes.

Carrillo Silva, Nicolás; Jose Jairo, Soriano Mendez
Control systems for the automation of industrial processes in the last decade have had a significant evolution since in many industries there are already installed bases of control, measurement, instrumentation and automation equipment, these being the starting point for the analysis of the case of study for this project. When installing a control system with all its elements in the conceptual and detailed engineering development, the process is ideally conceived, this means that when starting a plant, obvious conditions are considered, but not the detailed ones. It is here where abnormalities that make discontinuous industrial processes begin to emerge, at this point is where professionals specialized in computer systems and industrial automation intervene in such a way that they interact with the process and analyze the possible alternatives to achieve a process. I continue to go beyond the obvious and go into detail to improve the general condition of an industrial plant. The development focuses on the visualization of improvement within a concept of optimization of the process, the objective line being the improvement of the indicators with which the performance of the process is measured and the way of generating the solutions is carried out with the same equipment, measuring instruments and automation equipment. The focus of this project is directed towards the development of control techniques at the software level that allow improving performance translated into more robust, reliable systems and with greater attention to each of the operational details that are observed in the short term in savings. energy costs, reduced maintenance stops and increased production reflected in lower failure condition indicators.

Cordoba Calvache, Giovanny Albeiro; Soriano Mendez, Jose Jairo
Aircraft during flight are subjected to extreme pressure and climatic conditions due to the different changes in height that they experience in their stages of operation. The altimeter is a flight instrument responsible for providing the height at which the aircraft flies, it must be calibrated in a certified aeronautical repair shop annually depending on the aeronautical regulations of each country. To carry out this test, the Instrument Workshop of the Air Maintenance Command has an altimetry camera with manual operation and display of indications by means of a mercury column, making correct calibration difficult. A prototype is required to control pressure safely and reliably. positive and negative through a friendly graphical interface in which the operator can control the desired simulated atmospheric pressure, with the help of LabVIEW and servos.

This document contains the description of the Safety Instrumented System Design of a Debutanizer System. Based on the safety requirements of the plant provided by the LOPA Analysis of this, the approach of the Safety Instrumented Functions in charge of mitigating the identified risks is carried out. In order to determine the parameters influencing the safety performance and reliability of the system, the planning and evaluation of experiments is carried out in which the redundancy architectures of the sensor elements and final elements are varied. Those experiments are carried out in the ExSILentia software, which allows obtaining the results of SIL achieved, PFDavg and MTTFS. It is found that some redundancy architectures on the sensor element do not allow to meet the safety requirements for the system and, furthermore, that the type of final element is a determining factor for the proper selection of the redundancy architecture on the sensor element.

The furnaces are used in different industrial processes in the combustion stage, not only to generate heat (boiler) but also to produce heat and increase the temperature (combustion). During this stage, many hazards can be produced or generated affecting the general operation of the system or the operating staff. Within natural furnace operation, is possible to find unsafe conditions that could cause explosions, property implosions, injury, and death. This project describes the stages to be considered for the design of a BMS and its subsequent simulation through LABVIEW. It includes the characteristics of the required instrumentation, the communications to be implemented up to the control center, control logic, among others. All this is based on the requirements established in international standards and regulations such as, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), in which the conditions, that must be gathered and developed by this type of safety systems, are described. Additionally, this project introduces the safe arrangement of instrumentation along feed lines and in the main furnace in P&ID designs to achieve functional safety requirements and attain the original approach for Burner Management Systems.

The degree work aims to analyze and simulate the waiting times in line at a supermarket, and the simulation of a proposed automated payment system for a supermarket, which seeks to reduce waiting times in supermarkets when paying for products to improve the customer experience. This proposal makes use of RFID technology, which is a technology applied to short range contactless communication, used in this case to read the information of each product to be paid for, and in addition each product has a "tag" that allows the storage of relevant information of each product, to be read by the RFID receiver. In addition to employing this technology, the proposed complete system includes an automated line in which people place their bags of products on a motorized rail, this carries the products to be read by the RFID sensors, and then a robotic arm conducts the orders of each customer to a conveyor belt where they can be collected. The degree work includes the study and measurement of waiting times that are presented in today's supermarkets, in order to simulate this traditional process and compare it with the proposed system, analyze feasibility, advantages and disadvantages, and possible conclusions.
