Today it is a construction of knowledge around earth sciences, cadastre, geodesy, geophysics, cartography, remote sensing, geomatics, geographic information systems, planning, land use, environmental management and territorial analysis, among others. This is why a group of members of the curricular project decided to make a simple but emotional tribute to the Francisco José de Caldas District University, because it is at this university where we have had the opportunity to train professionals in the areas of knowledge specific to cadastral and geodetic engineers. This taking into account that five decades have passed since the creation of the program by Professor Ramon D’Luyz Nieto, who took on a very difficult challenge against many internal and external rejections from other professions. The stories and anecdotes that can be told in these years are quite a lot and it is our duty to deliver to the academic community, made up of students, administrative staff, graduates, pensioners and teachers, a message of gratitude for the path taken and the full assurance of commitment to continue forward in all future challenges that the academy, the Capital District, the regions, the country and the Latin American and international context demand to continue in this mission of professional training that has been entrusted to us. The book does not want to be pretentious in any sense, it is not a historical account of the curricular project in these 50 years; in fact, it omits more in several aspects. Nor is it a scientific document in which the advances in science and technology of the professional work of the cadastral and geodetic engineer can be consulted, , nor is it a compilation of essays; it is a sample of this journey of half a century, a thank you and recognition to those who have directly or indirectly been part of this wonderful story that began 50 years ago. The book is also for those who want to be part of our academic community to consult elements that motivate them to develop their professional paths. The topics have been organized according to the intervention of the professors, graduates and students who participated in the preparation of the book. In addition, a succinct review of some of the curricular grids from different periods throughout these years was made; a brief historical information on the curricular project; some essays made by us in each of our areas of knowledge, without any different pretension of doing things with the heart and with a completely autonomous vision of what we consider important to show in this tribute. Also included are some of the articles published in the newspaper El Tiempo at different times, where reference is made to the undergraduate program and its importance in the country; The article also presents Ramon D’Luyz Nieto’s vision of the philosophical-political profile of the cadastral and geodesic engineer, as well as a tribute to Professor D’Luyz by some final-year students. There are also some interviews with him that have already been published in other documents, and some photos that allow us to remember the passage of the curricular project through history, which each time leaves a deeper mark on the future of the country’s socioeconomic development.Ítem Educación ambiental en la educación superior. Consideraciones teóricas y metodológicasZamudio Rodríguez, Carmen; 0000-0003-4575-3359Following the recognition of the environmental crisis affecting contemporary society as a whole, there is a need to understand the magnitude and dynamics of the same and to take actions that contribute to reversing the trends of environmental unsustainability that are evident in different territories. Therefore, at a global level, during the different world meetings that have been convened in view of the imminent seriousness of environmental problems, the importance of Environmental Education (EE) in the university context has been especially recognized as strategic and urgently needed. Therefore, there is a constant concern to develop processes of inclusion of the environmental dimension in universities. Thus, in its capacity as a social actor and from its missionary work, the University has been incorporating the environmental issue in its various spheres of action. However, in light of this very fact, there is a need to clarify philosophical and pragmatic aspects of the processes of inclusion of environmental education and the need to plan and develop strategies with sufficient intentionality to deploy the environmental dimension in the being and work of the institution; so that professionals are trained within it who contribute to shaping societies that avoid continuing to produce environmental problems.Ítem Historia del pensamiento pedagógico colombiano: Una mirada desde los maestros e intelectuales de la educaciónJiménez Becerra, Absalón; Jiménez Becerra, Absalón [0000-0001-7787-6818]The reader will find gathered here seven biographical fragments intended to reactivate the memory of Colombian pedagogical practice, according to an expression of Olga Lucía Zuluaga. It is a selection of the vital and intellectual trajectories of men such as Don Martín Restrepo Mejía (1861-1940), official pedagogue of the Regeneration and the conservative Hegemony; Don Agustín Nieto Caballero (1889-1975), emblematic pedagogue of the liberal Republic and diffuser of active Pedagogy; Dr. José Francisco Socarrás (1906-1995), rector of the Escuela Normal Superior, the first public institution for the university training of teachers; teacher Estanislao Zuleta (1935-1990), self-taught philosopher and critical intellectual of the capitalist system and its educational institutions; Marco Raúl Mejía Jiménez (1952), promoter of critical pedagogy and manager of popular education in Colombia; Francisco Cajiao Restrepo (1947), a graduate in philosophy and economics, driving force of contemporary debate in education; and “profe” Antanas Mockus Šivickas (1952- ), mathematician, philosopher, educator, university rector, mayor of Bogotá, presidential candidate and current elected senator for the Alianza Verde party. They have undoubtedly been significant actors in the history of our modern educational system —in the broad arc that spans from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st century—, and their lives provide keys to understanding ourselves. However, it is not easy to find a common name for all of them: teachers, educators, intellectuals of education, officials of educational policy, cultural agents…? It is not permissible to respond with an easy “all of the above,” because although each of them occupied several of those positions, perhaps all of them, not all of them were school teachers, nor were they all State officials… But there is a deeper reason to think twice before labeling them as a group or each one in particular: the historical reason that consists in understanding that all of those names or roles do not apply in the same way in different periods of our “educational evolution.” Calling oneself “pedagogue,” let’s say, did not mean the same thing for Don Martín Restrepo Mejía and his contemporaries in 1910, as it did for us, the contemporaries of “profe” Antanas Mockus or of the teacher Estanislao Zuleta. Or how can the technologies of the digital age be used to transform it, without losing its character as an institution that promotes humanism and its obligation to be sensitive to the problems posed by the society around it? The University is thus placed at the crossroads of today as one of the institutions whose mission is being challenged and whose urgent need for change is urgent. But it is analyzed in a specific environment and within the framework of a specific experience, since the debate must offer examples and real cases in Colombia. Since its creation as a Municipal School in 1948, it has witnessed the transformations that the city and the country have undergone, and it has not been immune to them. As an institution, it is the product of training, research and extension projects of a curricular, pedagogical, didactic and scientific nature, as well as constant debates among students, teachers, administrators, graduates and prominent leaders of Bogotá, who have reflected on Public Education. , Higher Education and on the role of the District University in addressing city and regional problems. This book by Professor Carlos Arturo Reina aims to make known, from history, what the process of construction and consolidation of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas has been, taking as a reference the period between 1948 and 1979, and emphasizing the role that the Faculty of Engineering had in the future of the institution during these years. Not all the aspects or all the characters are included, as this is a first approximation to present a minimum document that accounts for the past of the University of the Capital. In a long-term investigation, surely more actors, more situations, more stories can be added, perhaps, much more memory.
