Resumen
Statistics as a discipline is a fundamental tool for different edges of scientific, technical knowledge (the latter incorporates the engineering component), among others, because it allows to give validity and confirmability to the data obtained in a scientific experiment or engineering project , which allows to have an argumentative basis to make some kind of decision or simply describe a given phenomenon. In this order of ideas, specifically biostatistics, it is the ideal tool used by agricultural and related sciences or techniques, since it allows describing or predicting a natural and / or natural phenomenon conditioned to anthropic aspects. Therefore, the importance of knowing the use of the statistical component in all forestry engineering degree works arises. For the present case study, the years 2015-2018 are contemplated, since it is possible to have clarity on how and under what circumstances biostatistics are used to process and give confirmability and validity to the information collected and processed in said degree works. Although similar exercises have been carried out in forestry engineering, as far as information processing is concerned (data collection, systematization or database construction and the description and / or analysis of information already systematized), as is the case with Angarita & Ceballos (2017), where information based on surveys is collected to know the behavior of some variables related to the relevance of the competences of graduates in the labor field in a period of time, or as in the case of Suárez (2002 ), where the state of the art of the degree works related to river basins in a given period of time, among others, is made known. Although works similar to this monograph have been carried out, in no case are the identification and description (characterization) of the degree works from the statistical component and mathematical modeling taken into account, therefore, it is pertinent to make this contribution in this existing gap, in addition to the fact that this monograph allows for a documentary basis for consultation in order to have clarity under which approach, scenario or parameter certain statistical and / or mathematical modeling components are being used, in addition to the use of the different types of software, among others; in the different fields of knowledge of the Forest Engineering curriculum project of the Francisco José de Caldas District University.
