Resumen
This thesis investigates and analyzes the evolution of literary genres over the past two decades as they have transitioned to virtual and digital creation and dissemination platforms, with a specific focus on the platform X (formerly Twitter). The research centers on four traditional literary genres: microfiction, poetry, short stories, and novels. In Chapter I, the thesis offers a concise description of these genres, detailing their traditional production and dissemination methods. It then explores three key aspects of their adaptation to platform X: i) writing within the digital environment; ii) narrative formats on X and X as a new space for literary expression; and iii) the evolution and adaptation of literary narrative formats on X, including the phenomenon of narrative threads. This chapter concludes with the problem statement, research question, general objective, and specific objectives. Chapter II establishes the theoretical framework, focusing on the literary narrative formats that have emerged on platform X. This new set of narrative forms is termed "tuiterature," encompassing microfiction on X, the twiller, the twovel, the tuit novel, micropoems, aphorisms, haikus, tweetstorms, literary games, visual poetry, and threads on X. Chapter III outlines the methodological framework, centered on the analysis of the Twitter corpus (or platform X). This analysis is supported by theoretical and conceptual frameworks from the works of Daniel Cassany, Marshall McLuhan, Harold Bloom, and Carlos Scolari. Chapter IV presents the results of the study, categorized into five key areas: the evolution of literary genres on X; the impact of the digital environment on narrative; audience interaction and participation; the use of multimedia in narrative; and changes in narrative structure. The thesis concludes with the presentation of final conclusions and the inclusion of appendices.
