Resumen
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a disability that affects brain development. It is characterized by difficulties in communication and social interaction. Because of this, people with autism have faced challenges in relating to other individuals, which has led to their exclusion from society. People with ASD often show atypical communication patterns, so effective communication is not only essential for educational inclusion, but also influences their quality of life and well-being. In Colombia, Decree 1421 plays a crucial role in ensuring that persons with disabilities, including ASD, have the right to attend any school in the country, thus promoting their inclusion. Family members of people with autism play a fundamental role in their lives. The support and understanding of family members are paramount in helping adolescents develop their abilities and reach their full potential. Colegio Distrital León de Greiff has been implementing an inclusion program since 2017, standing out for its commitment to inclusion. This research focuses on exploring the verbal communication of two adolescents with ASD in academic settings within the León de Greiff IED school and family understanding of their development during the period 2023-2024. Using a qualitative approach, participatory observation methods and interviews with students, teachers and family members were used to collect data, culminating in the making of a short documentary film.
