Resumen
This article analyzes how academic groups influence the development of soft skills—such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—among Industrial Engineering students at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. Although groups like ANEIAP, OSII, and IISE do not stand out significantly in promoting these competencies, there is a positive relationship between group membership and higher levels of leadership development. Despite progress in leadership and problem-solving, teamwork remains a notable weakness, suggesting the need for more effective strategies from both the academic curriculum and student groups. The article emphasizes the importance of explicitly integrating these skills into the academic plan through courses, interdisciplinary workshops, and targeted evaluations, reaffirming the university’s key role in the comprehensive preparation of its students.
