Resumen
This document corresponds to the systematization of the experience of the pedagogical project entitled 'The Teaching of Recent History: Betting on the Formation of Historical Awareness in Young People', which was developed with the youth collective of popular education "Colectivo JAK" located in the southeast of the city of Bogota. In the public sphere, the role that young people have played in the recent history of the country and in the internal armed conflict is often minimized, since on the one hand the subject is ignored in the educational sphere and on the other hand the various political and social actions of young people are stigmatized or underestimated. Faced with this situation, we focused on the formation of historical awareness based on the transformation of the social representations of the young people of the Collective regarding the subject. To this end, face-to-face and virtual workshops, film forums, focus groups, interviews, printings and musical rehearsals, among other pedagogical actions were carried out to address the country's recent history and the internal armed conflict, with the aim of making this case visible as a transgenerational phenomenon that has influenced the ways of understanding and representing the past, and above all of relating to and identifying ourselves as a society. As a result, the formation of historical awareness allowed the young people of the JAK Collective to take sides in the social reality they live in their locality, positioning their voices through art with the construction of the song 'Generation of Truth' together with the We Are Generation of Truth Network and the Truth Commission, as this was included in the legacy that the Commission left to Colombians in the year 2022. Finally, this project materialized in a genuine contribution to the construction of a culture of peace, in short, a conscience for peace from the feelings and experiences of young people in the territory.
