Abstract

This project aims to perform an evaluation of the work position associated with back pain in the activities of the operating area of ​​the company Inmel S.A.S. From the application of ergonomic evaluation methods. Based on the foregoing, it was essential to obtain information on the actual situation of the absenteeism rate present in the Inmel company. In the same, it was identified that of 170 reports whose diagnosis infers musculoskeletal conditions, 114 are specifically for back pain, led by workers in the operational area, in which by the nature of the activities or positions performed inadequate positions are obtained, loads are manipulated and operations are carried out that can lead to these conditions. According to the study carried out from the application of the ergonomic evaluation methods of OWAS and GIHNST jobs and the analysis of the information provided by the company, it was evident that the operational charges present a non tolerable risk compared to manual handling of loads and postural load, which entails that the worker has a potential risk of presenting musculoskeletal conditions, in this case low back pain. Therefore, it is necessary to design a specific program for the prevention of low back pain, aimed at the management of the company, based on administrative and technical strategies which is suggested to be implemented in the operative area workers.
