Resumen
This initiative focused on descriptive statistical analysis based on the Second National Survey on Access to and Use of Ocean Data, along with complementary inputs relevant to this stage of the data life cycle. This approach enabled the proposal and implementation of indicators and indices aimed at identifying both strengths and gaps in the management of these valuable assets in Colombia. Through tools such as R, RStudio, and ArcGIS, the data were processed and visualized through frequency graphs, heat maps, and line graphs. Techniques such as Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA) were also applied, and thematic maps were generated. The results show that, although more than half of the users positively assess the quality of the country’s ocean data, there are still significant challenges regarding accessibility and interoperability. Furthermore, segmenting the user community into typologies revealed differentiated profiles reflecting diverse perceptions of data usability, compared with the offerings of the main producers of oceanographic, meteorological, environmental, and marine biodiversity data in Colombia. Taken together, these findings highlight the availability of a robust data infrastructure, while also underscoring the need to enhance standardization and interoperability to strengthen environmental monitoring in areas such as Coastal Environmental Units (UACs).
