Resumen
This research is developed with the objective of characterizing educational innovation, through the investigation and analysis of a documentary review of theoretical material and academic articles that account for the use of innovation in education, in turn identifying the most relevant thematic lines. recurrent when addressing educational innovation, and thus identify the categories of innovation depending on its applicability: adaptive and transformative. Likewise, connect the three topics of educational innovation: context, problem statement and critical analysis, as a fundamental source in the construction of science actors that contribute to problem solving. For this, 400 articles are examined, of which 96 belong to the area of natural sciences, concluding that the most frequent thematic line in the last 5 years is the TIC and gamification line, which explains the easy adaptation of educational centers to when facing a pandemic and the challenge of assuming virtual classes, hence innovation according to the Institute for Educational Research and Pedagogical Development (IDEP) indicates having "resilience, creativity, flexibility as characteristics"
