Resumen
This research aims to evaluate the impacts and challenges of the transition from mass public transportation in Latin America to sustainable mobility, a process whose epistemology has been revised over time. This is why it is one of the topics most emphasized at summits on the environment and climate change, as it is a comprehensive problem. The methodology used is a mixed one, explaining the impacts on the components of air quality and noise pollution in relation to the biophysical factor, as well as the components of economic growth, employment, and productivity in relation to the macroeconomic factor, and finally, the components of life satisfaction, urban mobility index, and Gini index in relation to the social well-being factor. The scope of this research project is to describe the theoretical guidelines based on the generalities of the development of the seven main cities in Latin America: São Paulo, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Lima, and Santiago de Chile.
