Master's thesis in pedagogy of mother languaje. This qualitative research proposal is carried out in the school district Kennedy (locality 8th, Bogota - Colombia). It aims to investigate,problematize, theorize and analyze the reading matter inrelation to the difficulty of cycle II students to understand certaintexts of school life; and the way the lyrics, from a didactic andteaching mediation, become a tool to overcome these difficulties. In this regard, a previous diagnosis of reading skills of students, speech and pedagogical work and public policies related to reading, to identify possible causes to the problem inquestion is made. Subsequently a proposal of didactic intervention and the implementation of it, which show a process of progression in relation to the expected levels of reading for the grade in which the proposal is designed develops.
