Resumen
Traditional construction planning has been widely used and consists mainly of 2D Cad drawings, made in commercial software such as Autocad and has been very useful as a tool for professionals in the construction industry in the budgeting. On the other hand, building information modeling and its different workflows, such as planning, are among the main drivers for an evolution of the industry. This document carried out a comparative evaluation to identify the efficiency in the result with the implementation of the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology in the project planning processes with respect to the traditionally used methodology; and, therefore, benefits that can be extracted have been identified to take into account when conceiving construction projects. To obtain the results, a real project executed in which this methodology was used, was evaluated and compared with a second project where it was not implemented for its construction. The results obtained through this comparison showed that the BIM methodology presented a lower variation in terms of cost and time with respect to the traditional methodology in the project planning phase, thus benefiting the optimization of the budget and construction schedule; In addition, throughout the comparison, an analysis of inconsistencies in the initial designs was allowed, which through their integration led to better approaches and early decision-making with respect to the traditional methodology.
