Resumen
Marketplaces are essential spaces for communities, as they act as distribution points for food and goods necessary for daily life. These spaces often face significant problems related to hygiene and the proliferation of pests. This is largely due to factors such as inadequate management of organic waste, the high flow of people and infrastructure limitations, which make it difficult to ensure optimal sanitation conditions. In this context, the “Integrated Pest Control and Prevention System” project, developed for the Las Flores Market Plaza, proposes a comprehensive solution based on the principles of sanitary engineering. This system seeks to reduce the incidence of pests through strategies that include proper waste management, optimization of cleaning conditions, improvement of the existing infrastructure and training of traders in good hygiene practices. The main objective is to protect public health by reducing the risks associated with pests, such as vector-borne diseases. To this end, a detailed diagnosis was carried out to identify critical areas, specific prevention and control measures were designed and implemented, and a continuous monitoring system was established to evaluate their effectiveness. This project not only addresses the immediate problem, but also promotes a change towards sustainable and responsible practices, highlighting the importance of the active participation of all those involved in the square to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the actions in the long term.
