Resumen
This document establishes the necessary guidelines to develop a study of human capital in the software development sector in Colombia, this in order to identify the reasons why employers in the sector find it difficult to find talent. with the skills to fill their vacancies, and additionally the reasons why human capital tends to resign from their positions. Taking into account that this sector has a high technological development, hard skills are vital for the positions offered in these companies, however, soft skills have their role when hiring personnel, not only as a complement but as mechanisms to promote technical knowledge, which is not sufficiently offered in the labor market. Taking as a reference the study carried out by ManpowerGroup in 2018, the levels of shortage of human talent worldwide reached 45%, being the highest value in 12 years. IT being one of the 10 most difficult positions to fill in Colombia and the world (ManpowerGroup, n.d.).
