Zonas de contacto: miradas, posturas, lecturas y escrituras sobre el racismo colombiano desde el estudio de "el derecho de la mujer indígena en Colombia"

Abstract

This work inquires on the manifesto El derecho a la mujer indígna en Colombia, signed by 1400 indigenous Women on 1927. Starting from the document, sexism and racism are considered, approaching on three different problems: tangible racism through out eugenic politics, which guided the modernization processes during the beginning of the twentieth century, in relation to the arise of both suffragist and lamist movements, considering the extent to which such racism is inherited by us today. The second problem is the relation between indigenous people and writing, understanding writing as a central tool in the colonization of America, since it was useful in controlling both the people and the land through representations and legislations, which materialized in indigenous people ́s subordination. This problem rethinks the way in which indigenous people later used writing to defend themselves and to resist. By last, I ask myself about the invisibization of indigenous women on the different documents studied in the construction of this thesis. This research project nurtured a creative process in which, departing from the sensible, I pretend to make visible such reflections.
