Resumen
This document presents the results obtained in a classroom experience developed with students of an eighth-grade course, in an official school in the Bogotá city, with the objective of determining how they pass through the levels of understanding proposed by the Realistic Mathematical Education in the algebraic symbolization process. For the development of this classroom experience, six proposed tasks were designed and implemented based on different situations, real or imagined, which allowed the student to mathematize the context using previous knowledge, observation and common sense, among other tools, to provide solutions to questions present or arising from it, identify generalizable aspects to reach an algebraic symbolization as a form of representation. From the work developed by the students in the implementation of the tasks, a qualitative description and analysis of the written and verbal production obtained is carried out, as well as the study of some cases.
