Resumen
This graduation project presents an analysis and evaluation about behavior of a distribution grid in presence of short duration voltage variation, specifically Sags (voltage diminutions or dips) and Swells (voltage elevations), before and after implementation of the compensators SVC (Static Var Compensator) and DSTATCOM (Distribution Static Compensator), taking as study case the IEEE 30 bus system, which presents similar voltage levels to the Colombian distribution grid (industrial and residential). For this, the critical points in the system are identified through using of an objective function that allows to look the profiles voltage during a fault. With the results obtained are selected two nodes taking into account certain criteria. Using the DigSILENT program an algorithm implemented in MATLAB, then is made an analysis including the voltage variations aforementioned, with magnitudes and durations that are selected with regard to specified in the IEEE 1159:2009 standard and the NTC5000:2013 norm. Then, are included the compensators and through standards of voltage levels supported in the Colombian norm and the IEEE standard aforementioned, the grid behavior is evaluated, checking if then compensation the voltage levels are within acceptable ranges that don’t affect the power quality. Finally it concludes that the system present improvements with the implementation of the SVC and DSTATCOM compensators for Sags and Swells mitigation in each of the critical nodes. However, for voltage variations with magnitudes 1.3 p.u. the result was not within the expected voltage ranges, due to the n grid has synchronous condensers located in the node 11 and 13, destabilizing the system and prevents compensating fulfill the objective.
