Resumen
The citizenship of persons with disabilities requires to be thought and analyzed in the light of historical, conceptual, and educational elements. Accordingly, the research makes a historical review of the features of citizenship present in the pedagogy of abnormal people in Colombia; at the same time, it contemplates the conceptions of citizenship from different authors, which allow considering it from the rights and regulations. In the same line, educational inclusion is considered as a possibility for the construction of citizenship from the perspective of citizenship education, values, recognition of diversity and participation.
Based on the above, the approaches to citizenship also allow considering the perceptions of the participants (persons with disabilities and their families) who, from their voices, show what citizenship implies for them, which allowed recognizing the importance of their experiences and considerations.
