Resumen
Traditional historiography has positioned a hegemonic narrative of history centered around great men in great battles, highlighting the prominence of the white, european, heterosexual man over other subjects who have also shaped history. That said, with the aim of revealing the importance of embracing a broader perspective that allows for an understanding of how the social and cultural relations of men and women as sexed bodies have shaped the course of history, the present research engages in an epistemological reflection on the androcentric narrative that has specifically obscured the constitutive role of women in the historical development of societies and the way this has permeated the construction of school curricula, study plans, and social studies classes in schools. Likewise, it is a pedagogical and didactic gamble that is built upon a novel theoretical background with the aim of contributing to an innovative way of teaching history in the school context beyond the mere curricular exercise. One that does not turn “women in history” into an empty signifier, and that transcends the renowned “important women in history”, allowing students to achieve a deeper, more diverse, and foremost, truthful understanding of historical processes.
