Resumen
The disproportionate use of plastics, specifically single-use bags, has caused severe disruptions in ecosystems, affecting soils and waters. These plastics can release harmful substances and take up to 500 years to decompose, negatively and long-term impacting biodiversity and the well-being of living beings. The research aims to analyze and compare environmental regulations in Colombia and Perú, evaluating how institutions intervene in the control of the production, use and disposal of plastics. In response to this issue, measures such as taxes and bans have been implemented to reduce usage, raising community awareness about harmful effects and informing about recycling practices and environmental education guided by sustainable development initiatives. The effectiveness of these laws, their impact, and actions to address the crisis are expected to be evaluated. Internationally, global agreements are sought, while in Colombia, law 2232-2022 and resolution 0668-20016 are applied, and Perú law 30884, in order to mitigate the effects of plastic on the environment.
