This documentary research is product of the first phase of the international project Education in Biology and the Construction of Citizenships: a Latin American perspective. It consists of the characterization of the relationships between the teaching of biology and the construction of citizenships that have been developed in the Colombian territory from the review of the articles published in the journal Bio-grafía, between the years 2010-2019. To do this, three phases were implemented: 1. Theoretical or Pre-analysis 2. Descriptive Analytical 3. Interpretative, in accordance with the provisions of the semantic content analysis, using the Atlas ti 9.0 software. The information was categorized into epistemological perspectives of biology, types of citizenship, teaching approaches, and teaching for the construction of citizenship. The research shows that in the articles the epistemological perspective of cultural biology, emerging citizenships and the STS approach predominate; the relationship between teaching and the processes of construction of citizenship, aims to train citizens who recognize interculturality, the rights of the environment and who are participants in decision-making in their reality. The teaching of biology linked to the processes of construction of citizenship emphasizes the dialogue of knowledge to recognize the cultural and biological diversity in the territory.
