Resumen
Out-of-class learning spaces for practicing English are appearing in Bogotá and giving a different perspective to language learning and practice. These places are frequented by visitors from diverse contexts, including locals and foreigners who participate in the activities offered by these places. The current ethnographic research aims to explore the reasons why attendees visit these spaces and which are their motivations for learning English in this type of context. The intervention was developed through six sessions in two out of class learning spaces where the researcher obtained the essential information for the developing of this project. Data was obtained by way of semi-structured interviews, participant and non-participant observations and post facto notes and transcriptions. The findings reveal that social and learning practices are aligned and controlled by attendees to expand their social circle and their language skills
