Resumen
The present monograph develops an exercise that explores the socio-political context of the peace process carried out by President Belisario Betancur Cuartas (1982-1986) with the 19 de Abril Movement (M-19), starting from the historical reconstruction of events, In order to explain the causes that constituted the failure of said peace process. Testimonial statements by Laura Restrepo and Otto Benítez, nominated by President Bentacur for the negotiating committee and the former militant of the "Eme" Francisco "Pacho Paz" have been used. This peace process was characterized by the opposition of various political and social sectors that restricted the "peace project", added to the economic difficulty of the moment and the international anti-communist political influence, which established a margin of adverse socio-political conditions. With the emergence of different aberrations during the negotiations, it was demonstrated the unwillingness of the parties involved to complete the peace process, which ends disastrously after the taking of the Palace of Justice in 1985.
