In the development of this work, the degradation of PET through the use of microwaves is proposed. Two PET samples are taken, one corresponds to a soda container and the other to a water container. In order, they are treated with ethylenediamine followed by radiation for 20 minutes at 120°C. The product obtained is soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents such as acetone, ethyl acetate and methanol. The instrumental analysis is taken into account using infrared analysis, for before the degradation of the PET and after its degradation, it is evident that both PET A and PET B present similar bands. The product of the reaction of PET and ethylenediamine presents bands at 3400 cm-1 corresponding to the N-H tension.
