Resumen
This master's thesis shows the results of an investigation that diagnostically analyzes the informative treatment used by the Science sections, within the web portals of the newspapers El Tiempo and El Espectador, during the second semester of the year 2020. The investigation is part of the framework of the Public Communication of Science (CPC), in which scientific journalism is essential to inform society about knowledge and innovation and, consequently, to be able to promote the use of science in society within everyday contexts and life in general. The collection of the corpus of journalistic content to take into account within this investigation was carried out through the "constructed week" and the analysis of the information was carried out through an exhaustive categorical matrix, which evaluated the sample in categories such as : coverage of scientific information, characteristics of journalistic content, journalistic genre, fields of scientific research and homogenization and centralization of scientific information. In total, 113 informative contents published on the web portals of said newspapers were analyzed, finding within the most relevant findings that the newspaper El Tiempo is the newspaper that publishes the most content related to scientific areas; however, its journalistic content on its web portal is mostly informative. On the other hand, compared to El Tiempo, the newspaper El Espectador publishes less content in the science section, but resorts to a greater extent to interpretive reports. In turn, it is found that the informative content offered by the two newspapers in said section has mostly coverage of international origin.
