Resumen
The genus Bothrops (Viperidae) comprises several species of venomous snakes widely distributed in Colombia. They play a fundamental role in the ecosystems they inhabit, helping to control rodent populations and interacting with diverse species. This monograph presents an overview of the natural history of Bothrops in Colombia, addressing aspects such as their geographic distribution, habitat, ecology, behavior, diet, and reproduction. It also analyzes their morphological and physiological adaptations, which allow them to thrive in environments ranging from humid forests to dry regions.This work seeks to contribute to the knowledge of the genus Bothrops in Colombia, highlighting its ecological importance and the need to implement conservation and environmental education strategies.
