Resumen
The research with a quantitative approach, carried out with virtual modality tenth grade students from Bogotá, seeks to strengthen the understanding of protein synthesis supported by a Virtual Learning Environment, based on teaching for understanding and enriched with a supported digital Escape Room in game-based learning. To meet this objective, the ABJ pedagogical strategy is used through a game called Escape Room," "The Molecule and the Secret of the Dark Lady", which consists of solving a series of challenges and riddles, in order to find the photograph 51. The game is accompanied by a narrative where Rosalind Franklin accompanies the student in it. This proposal is used in order to make the student the protagonist of his learning. After the intervention of the digital Escape Room, it is evident that it favorably influences the understanding and learning of abstract and complex biological processes, since the knowledge questionnaire shows an optimal average of qualifications, since these are located at a level of Approval performance, according to the institutional evaluation system and the students themselves perceive an improvement in understanding, greater motivation and feel more attracted to science classes and consider that this type of strategy should be implemented in other subjects.
