Resumen
This study explores the effects of a Conflict-focused framework in an EFL class based on a micro, meso, exo, macro and chrono-systemic view that was built from Bronfebrenner’s Ecological Development Theory (EDT). Thusly, family, neighborhood, school, territory, government, and generations were objects of study in the English class for a group of eleventh graders. The literature review discusses the use of Conflict in specific areas of study, defines the keys to understand the Systemic View, and conceptualizes conflict. Findings in this qualitative study suggest that talking about Conflict in an EFL class setting can contribute to awareness, critical thinking, a safe environment to explore different issues students have come in contact with, and to improve English vocabulary acquisition as well as to enhance willingness to use the language. This monograph hopes to contribute to a further reflection towards working on EFL settings from different perspectives, such as a Systemic View of Conflict Transformation.
