Resumen
The design and implementation of a program of quality assurance in diagnostic radiology facilities ensures that potential radiation doses received by workers, patients and the general public are kept below established limits. In order to meet this target will be designed and implemented a protocol for the evaluation radiometric survey, from the perspective of radiation safety of diagnostic X-ray installations; further prototype elements were designed: the phantom, which determines the possible dose patients receive; Wedge aluminum profiles produced in L radiopaque material and the aluminum cylinder polymethylmethacrylate, for assessing the picture quality. The radiometric survey protocol was implemented in the small animal clinic at the National University of Colombia, Bogotá, reporting to a reliable assessment technical operator of the installation from the perspective of radiation safety. The phantom was designed in a modular in order to measure the dose both surface and at different depths, additionally it is possible to verify the uniformity of the dose from measurements of this parameter taken with the 25 TLD dosimeters can be placed uniformly in phantom; the material used in this design was polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) because its density is very close to the tissue equivalent. With respect to the wedge, its stepped design and the material used, high purity aluminum, enables studying and evaluating beam quality parameters associated with image quality as optical density and contrast; meanwhile the profile in L and the cylinder to assess matching of the light beam with the radiation beam and the perpendicular beam respectively.
