Resumen
Diana Patricia Alzate's work presents a comparative analysis of the vocal style in the bolero interpretations by three prominent artists: María Martha Serralima, Olga Guillot, and Toña La Negra. Through this analysis, the aim is to identify the unique characteristics of each performer based on a detailed observation of aspects such as song structure, vocal behavior within musical arrangements, and rhythmic choices. The study is based on the idea that an analysis of style can serve as a tool for singers seeking to develop their own style or to understand the bolero repertoire more deeply.
The analysis focused on technical and expressive attributes, encompassing the use of timbre, dynamics, phrasing, and accompaniment elements. It concludes that, although each performer shares the same repertoire, the way they approach the bolero varies significantly, which adds to the richness and complexity of this musical genre. The work highlights the importance of artistic choices in vocal interpretation and establishes a framework for future studies on the bolero and its interpretation.
