Optimización del manejo de residuos sólidos orgánicos en la IPS PROSEGUIR mediante compostaje

Abstract

This undergraduate thesis aims to optimize the management of organic solid waste generated in the kitchen of IPS Proseguir through the theoretical proposal of a composting model adapted to the healthcare environment. Currently, waste is segregated at the source but lacks a recovery process that reduces the burden on sanitary landfills and enables resource valorization. The proposal introduces a controlled composting system with biosafety, collection, and treatment protocols, capable of producing high-quality organic fertilizer for use in institutional green areas or community projects. It concludes that composting in healthcare facilities is feasible if clear technical guidelines, strict sanitary measures, and training programs are established, thus becoming a sustainable and replicable environmental strategy.
