"Morfocuencas" Plugin para QGIS que permite obtener la delimitación y caracterización morfométrica de una cuenca hidrográfica

Abstract

Hydrologic studies are important inputs for many kinds of projects of strategic importance, as well as it’s essential for land planning and several environmental impact assessments. As preliminary stage of those studies, it’s required a morphometric characterization of the basin where the project or its influence area takes place. This task has an extensive series of steps, which are currently made with the help of different GIS programs, together with external programs such as spreadsheets. To this effect, different tools of this software are involved, which each one requires the entrance of inputs, outputs and the supervision of its execution and evaluation of consistency of the results they return, that makes the process take time of the specialized professional. A QGIS plugin named MorfoCuencas is designed to automatize the process to achieve the basin delimitation, to generate the drainage network and obtain the morphometric characterization of the basin, which simplifies the job and improve significantly the lasting of the production of those results.
