Resumen
Problem solving (PR) in mathematics education has been a prominent field of research that aims to understand and relate the processes involved in RP to the development of students' mathematical knowledge and competencies. Under this approach, the Basic Standards of Mathematics Competences (EBCM) have been raised and require educators to re-evaluate their traditional methods. A critical element of the EBCMs is the general emphasis placed on contextualized and meaningful mathematics, in which students learn under the RP, demonstrating as they learn mathematics. In parallel, in recent years proposals in mathematics education link aspects of reality with mathematical objects that model situations of said reality, as stated in the Guidelines for the area of Mathematics: "...students through learning the Mathematics not only develop their capacity for thinking and logical reflection but, at the same time, they acquire a set of extremely powerful instruments to explore reality, represent it, explain it and predict it..." (MEN, 1998, p.) in the same way The Colombian curriculum proposes that through problematic situations of the student's daily life, he performs the praxis of active learning and mathematical reasoning.
