Throughout history, the relationship between music and dance has been constant. Within this connection, it is important to highlight the relationship between music of African origin and the dances that are practiced there, taking into account their evolution, transformation and also the various fusions that arise from mixtures with musical genres from other places. of the world, since this brings us to the central topic of this document: salsa. This writing has an interdisciplinary approach and is presented as a pedagogical guide aimed at enriching the understanding of these genres, as well as expanding the language used to interpret them, so that dancers can more easily identify the basic musical aspects of salsa. , and the musicians enrich their interpretation through the execution of the dance. The history of salsa is addressed from its roots, its context and its development, and then delve into its musical and dance elements. In addition, a brief tour of the genres mentioned in this document is made: son, pachanga, mambo and chachachá.
