Resumen
The Cerros Orientales are the most iconic landscape reference of the city whose main ecosystem is the high Andean forest, however, its ecological importance goes unnoticed by the citizens of the capital, who in the same way ignore the organisms that make up this ecosystem. This work was carried out as an internship with the Botanical Garden of Bogota José Celestino Mutis, in the framework of the Cerros Orientales Line, with the aim of developing an environmental experience for visitors to the San Francisco Vicachá Ancestral trail, which allowed an approach to small mammals of the Cerros Orientales, its ecological importance and biotic relationships with other organisms, raising awareness and generating awareness in citizens about the role of these species and the importance of conserving the high Andean forest ecosystem; in addition, to publicize how humans benefit from the supply of ecosystem services given by the action of environmental factors and the interaction between the organisms that compose it. The experience was implemented in 3 sessions and had the participation of 65 people in total, who through a PRE and POST test gave an account of their previous knowledge and acquired knowledge, reflecting the effectiveness and impact of the environmental experience as an educational strategy for citizenship.
