Resumen
This research compares the perceptions of environmental sustainability between young people from a Christian community and students in environmental programs in Bogotá, through a survey applied to both study populations. Differences in their perspectives are evident: the Christian youth base their views on principles of ecotheology and biblical mandates that promote an ethic of responsibility towards nature, while the students adopt ecocentric and biocentric stances. The study highlights the need to strengthen the social and ethical components in environmental programs by integrating fundamental aspects of human dignity, including beliefs, values, and cultural context. Furthermore, it argues that environmental sustainability should go beyond traditional approaches and be linked to sustainable human development, considering human interaction as a determining factor in environmental challenges.
