Resumen
Analyzing populations makes it possible to highlight the cultural, social and economic conditions of the individual members of these populations. In the current context, it is essential for Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to carry out characterizations of the individuals that make up the institutions, in order to improve internal processes and decision making. With this in mind, this paper develops a descriptive type of research that aims to know the socio-demographic characteristics of the professors of the Faculty of Science and Education of the Francisco José de Caldas Distrital University, in order to determine the possible relationships that may exist between these characteristics and the opportunities for improvement that the university has with respect to benefit and/or contribute to the work done by educators, thus seeking to address specific needs not yet identified. Methodologically, a systematic review of the literature was carried out to identify key variables and develop the design and application of a collection instrument adjusted to the needs and information required. Likewise, descriptive statistics were used as a means to analyze the information and, through the Power BI data visualization and processing software, to identify the relationships between different variables with the phenomenon of teacher non-compliance and perception of the Institutional Welfare services, such as: income level, psychological state, age, socioeconomic status and even factors such as the family nucleus or the participation of teachers in other activities may affect the amount of time dedicated to other academic and/or personal work. Next, using free analytical tools such as PSPP and JASP, an input and correlational analysis is carried out to identify and define the sociodemographic profiles of teachers. Finally, a scenario of future research lines is proposed to allow the use of methodologies used at a general level for the evaluation and proposal of strategic approaches that contribute to mitigate the risks associated with the underutilization of the benefits offered to the teaching staff, as well as the problems related to the personal, academic, institutional and socioeconomic spheres.
