Resumen
This project analyzes the determination of homogeneous physical and geoeconomic zones to evaluate the prefeasibility of the reactivation of the Pacific Railway Corridor, connecting the port of Buenaventura with the central railway corridor. This study was developed along the three main sections of the railway corridor, covering key municipalities in the departments of Valle del Cauca, Quindío, Tolima, and Caldas, describing their characteristics and areas of intervention. Consequently, this analysis focuses on the identification and evaluation of homogeneous physical zones (ZHF) and geoeconomic zones (ZHG) using methodologies from the Agustín Codazzi Geographic Institute (IGAC) and data obtained from various sources, including previous reports and field visits. This comprehensive approach provided a detailed view of the land, facilitating decision-making regarding land acquisition and the execution of works, aiming to ensure the viability and sustainability of the railway corridor by aligning current operational conditions with high technical standards and considering both the physical and geoeconomic characteristics of the involved areas to ensure sustainable regional development and a positive socioeconomic impact.
