Propuesta de plan de manejo integral de residuos sólidos para la plaza de mercado del barrio San Francisco

Abstract

The San Francisco market place is located in Ciudad Bolivar, this market doesn’t have an appropriate use of solid waste like a lot of neighborhood’s markets. This market place doesn’t have efficient and adequate practices for the solid waste management. Those wrong practices are generating negative environmental impacts. Some of the problems we could find in the process were the overpressure in the dumps, the contamination with electrical and electronic waste, the reduction of air quality produced by the putrified smells from the decomposition of the organic waste, the visual pollution generated by the build-up of waste in inappropriate places, the impact of the water resource produced by the dumping of leachates discharged directly to the domestic sewage, finally, the impact on sellers, buyers and neighbors' health caused by the presence of vectors and rodents, as well. This project developed a mitigation alternative. It's a proposal of integrated solid waste management plan. The proposal is composed by the operating stages of the solid waste in the San Francisco market place. The integrated solid waste management plan suggests some solutions in order to reduce the negative impacts and the amount of waste that is being sent to the Doña Juana’s dump.
