The dairy sector in Ubaté is the main economic activity of the municipality, in which high water consumption is required from the primary producer to the processor of milk and its dairy derivatives, causing discharges of industrial wastewater that can affect the Regional Management District Integrated –DRMI- of the Fúquene, Cucunubá and Palacio lagoon complex, which shows the history of the dairy sector in the region and in the municipality of Ubaté, the identification of the most common impacts of the production of dairy products such as milk heat-treated, cheese, yogurt and butter, the effects that these discharges can cause in surface water bodies, the analysis of the water quality index - pH, biochemical and chemical oxygen demand and total suspended solids, taken from the CAR water quality monitoring stations before and after the municipality, also some of the national incentives d e support such as Payment for environmental services, green business programs, chamber of commerce and productive Colombia, in order to reach compliance with the guidelines of the Environmental Management Plan - PMA and the water quality objectives for 2020 to promote the proper use of water and, in general, caring for the environment while strengthening the dairy sector in the region and in the municipality of Ubaté.
