Resumen
The document is a reflection on the practical experience within the Integral Training Tutoring Program, an initiative by Colombia's Ministry of Education aimed at transforming schools into centers of social change through the involvement of university students in pedagogical practices in rural areas. The practice took place at the Alto de Las Flores campus of the Alejandro Vélez Barrientos Educational Institution in Envigado, Antioquia, where the author worked in artistic, sports, and healthy lifestyle strengthening centers, promoting interdisciplinary learning and students’ socio-emotional development. Despite notable achievements, such as student enthusiasm and academic progress, challenges were identified, including limited time, low parental involvement, inadequate teacher preparation, and the undervaluation of the intern’s role. The experience reaffirms the importance of an integral, contextualized education focused on student well-being.
