Resumen
The UDNET Data Network of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas is responsible for the control and monitoring of the university's four datacenters, which house active telecommunications equipment. These datacenters are physical facilities used to host computer systems and associated components, such as servers, storage devices, and networking equipment. Therefore, these spaces must have secure access systems where only authorized personnel can enter. To ensure this, biometric modules capable of analyzing the fingerprints of personnel who need and are authorized to enter were implemented. The project, based on the "Implementation of a Biometric Control System to Permit and Support Access and Security in the Datacenters of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas," focuses mainly on improving security and access control in the institution’s datacenters. These facilities are equipped with biometric sensors for the entry of authorized personnel; however, recently, the server that controlled access suffered irreparable damage, leaving the datacenters without adequate access control. Given this critical situation, the project will focus on the installation and configuration of a new biometric control system. Consequently, the process to implement a server capable of hosting advanced security management software that will replace and improve the existing access control system will be outlined. The implementation will ensure compliance with the law governing personal data protection under Law 1581 (2012). The implementation will be carried out in collaboration with the Data Network workgroup responsible for the university's IT security over 16 weeks, during which measurements, tests, configurations, and investigations will be conducted.
