Resumen
Aquatic Macroinvertebrates are individuals that can be observed with the naked eye or are retained by a mesh network of approximately 125μm, their use being of great importance for evaluating the quality of water bodies. In this work, water quality is evaluated by means of aquatic macroinvertebrates that function as bioindicators, at three points along the Chisacá River during two times of the year, the dry season and the rainy season. For macroinvertebrate sampling, the Surber network was used, additionally physicochemical parameters were measured in situ (pH, temperature, conductivity, sedimentable solids, and phosphate and nitrate tests were carried out); In the laboratory phase, the separation of samples and counting and identification of species were carried out. Subsequently, the calculation of the BMWP / Col indices, the ASPT index, and the Diversity alphaMargalef index and Diversity betaJaccard index were performed. It was determined that the water quality of the Chisacá River in the dry season is at an acceptable level (slightly polluted water) and in the rainy season it is at a doubtful level (moderately polluted water), obtaining a total of 4608 individuals belonging to 14 different families. , being the Simuliidae family the most abundant in both seasons with a total of 3443 individuals. In this work it was determined that the quality of the water of the Chisacá River is not in very serious conditions of contamination, which makes it ideal for later being treated and then distributed as water for human consumption.
