Resumen
The constant economic growth in the municipalities of the Bogotá savannah, especially in Tocancipá, has generated a series of conflicts related to territorial planning and land use, as well as social and environmental problems. In the Cundi-Boyacense highland region, continuous development has been evident in the industrial sector, technical agriculture and mining exploitation, which has had a significant impact on human settlements and the ecosystems of the area. The Canavita village, located in the southeast of Tocancipá, combines urban and rural areas, with 19.6% of its territory included within a mining estate. This area is home to a large part of the municipality's factories and maintains smaller-scale agricultural and livestock activities, mostly for self-consumption. A report prepared by Geocing S.A.S. In 2019, it presents the methodologies used to collect information on socio-environmental problems in the Canavita village. This document offers a chronological analysis of the activities carried out, which made it possible to identify and characterize the concerns of the affected communities. The study focuses on three population centers where the impacted population is concentrated and uses advanced tools, photointerpretation techniques and photographic evidence to document its findings exhaustively. The report not only details the actions taken, but also justifies the procedures used in data collection. Finally, it proposes a series of alternatives to improve living conditions in the region and foster constructive relationships between mining companies and local communities. These proposals seek to establish a solid foundation for collaboration and sustainable development, taking into account the influence of active mining projects in the region. In summary, economic growth in Tocancipá has brought with it significant challenges that require urgent attention. Local communities, affected by mining activities, need to be an integral part in the search for solutions that promote a balance between economic development and the protection of their rights and the environment. The municipality's economy is based mainly on industry, floriculture and mining. Although mining represents a minor economic contribution, it is the main source of socio-environmental conflicts in the communities near these extractive activities, especially with regard to sand extraction. Communities have expressed their opposition to certain aspects of mining, such as operating hours and extraction techniques used.
