Resumen
This work results from long-lasting research on the carranguera country music of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense in the municipality of Nuevo Colón, province of Márquez, Boyacá. From the knowledge of the origin of this musical language, this research examines the geography and culture germinating the peasant feeling that turns into music. Consulting multiple sources, how this carranguero language denounces the social problems of the peasants is discovered. Along each chapter of this text, the context and background of a musical phenomenon that grew in the 80s is described through the compositions of maestro Jorge Velosa. Based on the findings and evolution of this genre before, with, and after Velosa, a research-creation exercise was carried out bearing in mind the understanding of the forms and contents of carranguera music seeking to contribute to Nuevo Colon's creative spirit in this genre. A qualitative methodological vision and an ethnographic design were applied in this research process. Likewise, it was evidenced that carranguera music is part of the identity of the peasant community of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense. This musical language shows this region's way of life, customs, and celebrations and denounces their mistreatment and problems. Several musicians of the Carranguero language, managers of the Nuevo Colón Carranguero Music Festival, and some community inhabitants were interviewed to achieve this work. With their testimonies, experiences, reflections, and questions, this research display elements of Carranguera country music that represent a way of seeing and reflecting on a country where social inequalities have generated many chasms but have simultaneously awakened many conscience .
