Resumen
What teaching strategies in chemistry can promote the understanding of the different levels of material organization to overcome conceptual ambiguities concerning the relationships between the macroscopic and microscopic worlds, as evidenced in typical scientific education? Chemistry is one of the most challenging sciences to comprehend, and to address this, the development and implementation of models are proposed, taking into account the various levels of chemical organization. Models allow for representations, analogies, and simplifications of interactions, reactions, and phenomena found in this field of science. This research was conducted with tenth-grade students, using the concept of ionizing radiation, starting from an environmental chemical catastrophe. It considered a constructivist-oriented teaching approach, suggesting that students, rather than just acquiring scientific content, learn to think scientifically by constructing models that help explain everyday situations through the application and development of theories.
