Resumen
The clarinet is a very versatile instrument characterized by its sonority and virtuosity, as well as for having a wide repertoire that covers a great variety of styles and has been studied extensively. For several decades, this vast repertoire has been enriched by several Latin American composers, who have created works of great technical and musical demand, in which it is often possible to observe elements and influences of Latin American traditions. The works Zarabandeo, by the Mexican composer Arturo Márquez, and the Sonata for clarinet and piano, by the Argentine Carlos Guastavino, are representative works of the Latin American academic repertoire for clarinet. This paper briefly documents the life and work of the two composers, proposes an analytical perspective of these pieces and enriching this panorama with a series of interpretative recommendations of the works, based both on their own experience and that of outstanding musicians who have performed them, as well as on the main musical characteristics extracted from the analysis. As a final product, a concert is performed in which all the musical findings and interpretative decisions expressed in this document can be evidenced.
