Resumen
The global labor market is a turbulent scenario that requires permanent updating of all the actors involved in it, especially those who are entering it for the first time, Therefore, it is of interest to perform an analysis of the competencies required in the labor market for industrial engineers in Colombia to determine how prepared are the recent graduates to face the changing scenario of our country and thus be able to propose possible improvements to the Industrial Engineering programs offered by the Institutions of Higher Education (IES), in order to reduce the gap of the required competencies vs. the demanded ones, so that the industrial engineer can be linked to the labor market in a timely manner. It is undoubtedly important to perform an analysis of the competencies required in the labor market for industrial engineers in Colombia to determine how prepared are recent graduates to face the changing scenario of our country and thus be able to propose possible improvements to the Industrial Engineering programs offered by the Institutions of Higher Education (IES), in order to identify and reduce the gap between required and demanded competencies so that the industrial engineer graduated from Colombian Universities is competent and can be linked to the labor market in a timely manner. It is clear that questions such as: What competencies are companies in Colombia demanding and how much are they assimilated with those obtained by graduates of Colombian universities with respect to the labor market of industrial engineers? are relevant when analyzing the relevance of curricular designs. The objective of this graduate work is to build a gap analysis model between the labor competencies acquired by industrial engineers and those demanded in the Colombian labor market, in order to achieve the project's objective, It is necessary to identify the labor competencies demanded in Colombia, through secondary sources of information, as well as the labor competencies acquired by industrial engineering graduates in the development of the professional career, through analysis of the curriculum and secondary sources of information to; from the above, propose a model of gap analysis between the labor competencies required by the Colombian labor market and those declared in their curricula by the universities in Colombia. Once the analysis model has been established, it will be applied to the specific case. In order to broaden the framework of analysis of the results obtained, the competencies demanded by the labor market for industrial engineers in the United States are analyzed with respect to the competencies acquired by industrial engineering graduates in Colombian universities.
