Resumen
This article provides an overview of a successful data center migration project undertaken by the Francisco José de Caldas District University under Contract No. 1579 of 2023. The project involved the relocation of a state entity's data center to the CLARO Triara Data Center, which is certified as ICREA Level 5. This strategic collaboration addressed the UNP's critical need to modernize its technological infrastructure, enhance the availability and security of its core systems, and ensure regulatory compliance. The Universidad Distrital led the planning and execution of the migration, showcasing its technical proficiency and expertise in managing complex projects. The relocation was performed with efficiency and strict control, which minimized operational downtime and successfully met all project objectives with minimal impact on the agency’s operations. The outcomes of this migration include a significant improvement in the availability of the UNP's services, a robust enhancement of information security thanks to CLARO's certified infrastructure, optimized application performance, and guaranteed future scalability. This case study highlights the effectiveness of inter-institutional collaboration and the Universidad Distrital's experience in implementing high-impact technology solutions for government entities. Key factors for the project's success were meticulous planning, effective coordination among the UNP, the Universidad Distrital, and CLARO, and proactive risk management throughout the entire migration process.
